Seriously though: He's the last man standing of the Big Three of Dutch literature and he wrote a few classics. Some are translated to English. Check it out if you like.

Looks like your ex-dude did well for himself btw. As for me, I know several people who became big. Professionally (because I'm a (political) reporter it kinda comes with the territory) and personally (of which one case particularly surprised me).
