I really don't think Ringo could have laid down such a great drum track on, say, "Paint it Black", but Charley definitely could have drummed just as effectively as Ringo on "Rain". I chose those two songs, one from each group, because the drumming on each is rather complex. I would have to give the edge to Charlie. Charlie was definitely better in the earliest days, but Ringo was improving as time went by.

There's more but I have to go now, I'll be back for more comments.
