Well that's certainly great to hear. Better that Zep wasn't there because of contractual obligations rather than Mick feeling threatened? by Zep's demos. 😂 These silly rumors.
Keith had said he played Zep's first album all the time. I like that. BUT he would have to turn it off because eventually Plant's voice would get irritating. 🗣
I've mentioned this Jimmy Page quote before, but I've learned more of the context. When the Stones performed concerts at The El Mocambo in Toronto for the planned "Love You Live" album, that's around the time Keith got busted. (Was it just before or after? IDR) and may do prison time.
That's when Page said, "You can forgive Keith for everything he's ever done because of the way he plays on 'Dance Little Sister'."
I'm surprised Page never made a guest appearance at a Stones concert. Rumor had it he would appear at one of the of 6 MSG shows in 1975, but it didn't happen. [Carlos Santana, and Eric Clapton guested on SFTD encore, but I wasn't at that show(s). 😿 Damn.]
Never cared for them myself. Tull much better IMO.
Yeah, I prefer Tull also. One of the best live bands ever, even with the personnel changes.
When Tull performed at Circus, Tony Iommi was their interim guitarist. They had their debut album out "This Was". Ian Anderson and original guitarist Mick Abrahams had a falling out after "This Was" was completed.
There was no way I could tell who the guitarist was. I had a bootleg copy of Circus, the movie, on VHS in black & white. The problem was there was too much 'snow' on the screen, but the snow was subsiding slowly as the movie progressed. Tull played early in the movie, so there was a lot of snow, but still -- there was this weird hat that Iommi wore which, IIRC, covered a part of his face. Maybe he didn't want to be noticed because he was on another label?
By the time the Stones got on, there wasn't that much snow on the screen. Oh and they were great.
