We've all heard stories and rumors, especially when it comes to Rock music, and I suppose we always will. --- Now, about The Rolling Stones Rock & Roll Circus, I have heard that The Stones had asked the nascent group Led Zeppelin to perform on Rock'n Roll Circus. However, as the story goes, supposedly Mick heard demos from Zep's forthcoming debut album, and thought they would be too competitive and therefore got Jethro Tull to perform instead of Zep.
Is there any truth to that?
If it's not true, perhaps that rumor started because of a bootleg album that came out in the 70s that had Circus on it (don't know if it was the whole show) and that same bootleg album had a performance by Led Zeppelin, BUT it wasn't from Circus. Zep's bit was actually a BBC performance, hence the confusion about them being on Circus. (As we know, Circus wasn't released till many years later.)
Keith & Page are good friends. In fact, they recorded stuff together some time in the 70s, particularly a song called "Scarlet". Anyone know if any bootleg of that stuff exists?
