In the Genesis story it says god made the world and rested. After that he created man and woman (thats more or less what it says?). But we now know that geological aeons passed between the creation of the world and the development of people.Dinosaurs ruled the planet for an incomprehensible period of time before they were wiped out....probably by an asteroid strike. We also have the work of Darwin on evolution and natural selection. Wasnt genesis just a way of explaining things when we didnt know better?. I mean its still possible to believe in an ordered universe and design if one wishes....but some fundamental stories in the bible do become problematic? I mean only the most blinkered of fundamentalists can still believe in the creation story and adam and eve? many will say it was all just symbolic...but isnt that just another stage of retreat?
