With "Under My Thumb" the dominant melodic theme is Brian's marimabas beginning with the intro. Mick's vocal has the lyrics of course, but melodically it takes a back seat. The same with "Out of Time", also from (UK) Aftermath and also featuring Brian on marimbas. Listen to Chris Farelowe's cover version of that song. The arrangement takes Brian's marimba part and orchestrates it for string section. Yes, there is a composer involved with origin of that arrangement, and his name is Brian Jones. The song opens with the string riff, and it's much more than an embellishment, being on the same level with the vocal.
