RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Trump and the NFL (NSC)

Anyone in favor of simply NOT including the national anthem at commercial sporting events?

I am and have stated this for decades now! Why do they do that? I can't see why the anthem is played before football, baseball, basketball (etc) games, as it isn't needed. We all know what country we live in and unless it is a match like in the olympics, where it's one country against another, and where it makes sense to play each countries' anthem, that doesn't apply to U.S. NFL football games. We don't need to be playing it when 2 teams from the same country are playing. Playing the Stones "Start Me Up" makes much more sense to me at the start of a football game, or any other game.

But let me back up to the main topic on this. As much as I hate to ever agree with our scumbag Prez Trump (and on this I disagree with his wanting to kick people out of the country for not standing, but it would be great to have his ass kicked out of the White House!), I'm not going to be a phony and be against this for the fake reason he is, but I still have a problem with the players taking a knee. Trump and others say that it's disrespectful to the military doing that, this coming from Mr Bonespurs, who refused to join the service in his youth and got out of the draft thanks to his dirty rich daddy's money and lies. I mean, that asswipe needs to stop acting like he's pattroic when he clearly isn't and he never was.

But I still feel that taking a knee is disrespectful to our country, even if the players have a right to do it... but... here's what gets me. I keep hearing about the military on this, as if the flag is just for the military. The U.S. flag is for everybody who lives in this country, yes, everybody, including even the players who are taking a knee to our flag. So I wish they would stop saying that crap, the flag belongs to all of us who lives in the U.S. and not just for those who served. I didn't serve and no, I would never join any military unit ... I do know how to fire a weapon, as a gun owner I've done it a million times at the shooting range or out in the woods. I used to very much enjoy firing a rifle, and I was a very good shot, too, before the arthritis in my hands got so bad that I stopped going shooting, thanks to the pain it caused in my hands for a week afterwards. But, while I used to like to go out shooting, I never killed anything, either, as I'm no hunter or killer. So please don't force me to kill another human, 'cause I won't do it unless it was in self defense while defending my home or family. Fighting in a war caused by politicians is not killing in self defence, nor is it defending your country. Fighting in the ongoing war in the Middle East today is not defending our country! It's only fighting and dying for the corrupt, rich oil pigs and for that crazy orange nut in the WH.

So while I agree that U.S. citizens have the right to protest while the anthem is playing, I feel the players shouldn't do this for reasons already stated in this thread. It isn't like they are in citivian clothes and on their day off from work. They are instead at work representing their employer and wearing the employer's clothes (in this case a team uniform), while at the very same time said employer is paying them millions of dollars to work for them for only a few hours a day. The players therefore are representing the team, and really, the entire city that the team plays in. There are so many people out there with so many different viewpoints. So by going on TV and taking a knee while the anthem plays, it looks like they are representing not only themselves, but the entire team along with the team's owners, and also the city (and in many places, the state too) that the team plays in. That's the problem. Some fans in the stands (who are the real ones who are paying their salary) will not agree with this, nor will some fans watching at home on the tube. This in turn causes all kind of problems (as we have clearly seen already). So out of respect for others, like your boss and some of your fans (who again are the ones who are really paying their salary), they should not take a knee for that reason. There are other ways off the field where they can make waves about things that are wrong, and other athletes have done that in the past, and so can these guys today. They are protesting something that I agree with them about and I feel yes, the problem needs to be taking care of and should have been taken care of years ago. It's 2018, when will this discrimination crap finally end? It will end when people take the right course of action, but - this kind of action is only hurting their cause, and they would be fools to keep it going if only for that reason.

Since now they aren't being forced to be out there standing on the field when the anthem is playing, that's fair enough, they are being given a choice to choose from, and yes, that seems fair to me.
