RE: RE: RE: RE: Suicide... and afterlife

Gosh, I feel so bad for both of you guys, losing a family member like that is so hard to deal with and leaves open questions that you will never have any answers to.

I guess in time most of us will know somebody who will do themselves in. I had a very close lady friend who killed herself almost 3 years ago in the same way Chris did himself in. I'm still totally shocked by her doing this to herself. She was a Buddhist monk, and you don't think that such people would kill themselves, but it doesn't matter who you are and what you do for a living when it comes to suicide. Plus I believe suicide hurts those who you leave behind the most.

Suicide makes us sad, but it also makes me angry in many ways. Why did they do it?... and why didn't any of us see this in them to where we could have stopped it from happening? With my friend, it came from out of nowhere. The 2 of us talked a lot about life and death often enough. I always found what the Buddhist believe in when it comes to this subject is very interesting, even if I myself don't buy any of it. I don't believe in almost anything that any of the religions teach us about death, they all got in wrong IMO, and the proof is that nobody has ever died and then came back to tell us what happens after we die. It's a total guessing game and nothing more, and nobody will ever be proven right or wrong on this, too. That's why religions get away with their made up stories about what happens after we die and why so many buy into their BS stories about this since people want to believe that we do go on to something new after death.

Humans want to believe that there's a life for us beyond death, since the idea that they aren't going to exist anymore in any way ever again (other than in the minds of the living who knew us), scares the crap out of most. That's the only reason we why we have religions. Most humans are totally afraid of dying, until they get real old, then they either no longer care or worry about it, and some welcome it, since they are in so much pain as their body ages and want the pain to end. But that's the key to this. The Buddhists got it half right, just don't worry about it and live your life each day to the fullest and enjoy what you got in life. They just get the after death part wrong.

My late friend would tell me about her past lives, what she could remember about them, which wasn't a lot. But she totally believed that she lived her past lives and I bet that had something to do with her taking her own life, since to her she would return again. But she isn't going to return. I don't buy into any of that, not that I'm totally right in this - since again nobody is or can be. But I do believe that believing in this afterlife thing can lead some to suicide, which is the worst reason to believe in such a thing.

If there is a next life, great, but what if there isn't? Those who say we will find out in time, after we die, well no, we won't! We will never find out even if there is a afterlife, since our brain will be dead once we are gone, and with no brain, one can't think, or see, or know what will happen after death. So in other words, even if there is another life, we won't ever know it even once we begin to live the new life, since we won't have the same brain.

So I say don't worry about it, enjoy what you got around you and just don't worry about a afterlife you will never have any control over even if it does exist.

One thing I know for sure is that I have no memory of any life before this one, and I don't believe those who say they do. They aren't lying in saying this, but they aren't really remembering their past lives, since they can't. Their current brain wasn't around to remember such a thing, so if it did happen, they can't remember it! Of course, I never died and came back either, so what do I know? The one thing I do know for sure is that I know more than these phony religious leaders who try to brainwash others into using death as their means of controlling their followers. Such so called "leaders" are truly the most evil people on the planet, IMO. If there was a Hell for bad people after we all die, they would be the first ones headed there!

Live for today and don't worry about tomorrow! So very true indeed!
