Texas Creek is an unincorporated community at the junction of U.S. Highway 50 and State Highway 69 in Fremont County, Colorado. It is located 13 miles from Coaldale, roughly 27 miles west of Cañon City and 30 miles east of Salida. The town's population is approximately 300 residents, and its elevation sits at 6,200 feet (1,889 meters) above sea level. It is highly regarded as a hub for year-round off-roading, river rafting, and camping.

Coaldale (elevation 6,552 feet / 1,997 meters) is in Fremont County, Colorado, to the west of Texas Creek. The population as of the 2020 census was 343. It is bordered to the northwest by the community of Howard. The northeastern edge of the area follows the Arkansas River, and U.S. Route 50 follows the river. Cañon City, the county seat, is 37 miles (60 km) to the east (downriver), while Salida is 21 miles (34 km) northwest (upriver).
Both towns experience a semi-arid mountain climate, characterized by cold winters and warm, dry summers. Located in the Arkansas River Valley, the area is known for its mild, invigorating mountain air, significant sunshine, and temperatures ranging from average winter lows near 9°F (-12.8°C) to summer highs in the 80s°F (28°C).The area receives moderate snowfall, averaging about 62 inches (158 cm) per year, with peak snowfall usually arriving in early to mid-spring.
