Mount Crestone (fka Crestone Peak) is the name(s) that locals call this
mountain, which has 3 sub peaks to it: Columbia Point, Kit Carson Peak and
Challenger Point. The name was changed by error back in 1906 by the U.S.
Board on Geographic Names to "Kit Carson Mountain", and by
which it is still officially called today by those who don't live here, but a
name which almost all locals refuse to call it. Please see this newspaper

in much better detail.
