You know, I gotta make a confession, and I guess it'll make me sound kind of unschooled about Rock N Roll though I do feel I am. Here it is: unless drummers are playing big, complex solos, or unless their drumming really stands out somehow, I have a hard time determining if drummers are simply very good or great. For example, drum solos are simply not to be found in the Stones, so I can't say if Charlie Watts is better than John Densmore or Ringo Starr. But then there are guys like Neil Pert, Phil Collins, Buddy Rich, and John Bonham where the drums really stand out.
