I've only had the opportunity to see Van Halen once & not in their prime but have seen AC/DC several times.
Answer to your quiz AC/DC hands down, no doubt EVH is a better guitarist & very inventive with the finger tapping thing, but AC/DC are the riff masters & I believe even KR rates them highly for this.
I won't have this quote quite right but I believe Angus was asked some time ago "have AC/DC made 13 albums that all sound the same?"
Answer : "that's bullsh!t, we've made 14 albums that all sound the same" !! So what - they consistently sound great to me, perhaps their last couple not up to earlier standards & I think Flick of the Switch was during some sort of difficult period.
Also as much as I've seen AVH vaunted I'd take Phil Rudd any time over him, by light years, when I saw AVH I actually thought he was very average.
