Then a new snow total was also reached for this date, at 12.2 inches, breaking the old record, also set in 2007, of 7.4 inches.

First rain of 2024 takes place on April 20, but only a trace, and then the first measurable rain of the year fell on May 9.

A record low temperature was set May 22, when the thermometer dropped to at 24 degrees. The old record was 25 degrees, set in 2002.

On August 4 the high temp for the day reached 92.8 degrees, this is the highest temperature ever seen in the month of August in the Crestone/Baca.

Second latest First Freeze date ever in the Crestone/Baca - On Sunday night October 20 at around 11 pm, when the temperature dropped down to 31 degrees. This marked the second latest date ever that the greater Crestone area has seen it's first freeze, as October 24, 2015 holds on to the latest record. Before 2015, the latest date to see the first freeze of the season was October 9, and we seen that old record surpassed 3 times since, with all of this because of man-made climate change.
