Syracuse is a city and the county seat of Onondaga County, New York. It is the fifth-most populated city and 13th-most populated municipality in the state of New York. At the 2020 census, the city's population was 148,620 and its metropolitan area had a population of 662,057.

Climate wise, the coldest temperature ever recorded in Syracuse was -26°F (-32°C), seen twice, first on January 26, 1966 and then on February 18, 1979. The hottest day was on July 9, 1936 when the thermometer reached 102°F (39°C). The highest recorded seasonal snowfall in Syracuse, was 207.9 inches (528.1 cm), which occurred during the 1992–1993 winter season. Most snow from one storm, was during the "Blizzard of 1966," when 42.3 inches of snow fell within a few days.
