Interstate 90 crosses the New York/Massachusetts state line between Canaan, New York, and West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. In New York, it serves as the Berkshire Connector Thruway. Once crossing into Massachusetts, it seamlessly transitions into the Massachusetts Turnpike (Mass Pike), heading toward Boston.
Canaan is a town in Columbia County, New York. Spanning 36.7 square miles along the Massachusetts border, its population was 1,570 at the 2020 census. Sitting about 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Albany, the area offers a classic small-town feel with a mix of farmland, residential homes, and outdoor recreation.
