You rated it higher than I did. I almost never say how I'll rate a song, or how I'll vote - in the Poll Post, but after that, I only will if somebody brings the vote or rating up in a reply - like you just did, since I'm not replying as the poll master, but as myself.
I've seen "Melody" listed as a jazz song, reggae song, and as a funk number, too. I've never been a fan of jazz, and I don't hear a lot of jazz in this song, maybe just a bit. I hear even less reggae in it (which I do like), and yes, I do hear funk in this number for sure, and I love good funk, and in the rare cases where the Stones played funk, I liked it, other than for this song. Thing is, this was really Billy Preston's song - as I noted in the Poll Post, and I like a lot of Billy's funk songs, just not this one. Not sure why I'm not crazy for this number, I should dig it, but I don't, and I gave it only a rating of a 5 myself, as it just doesn't do anything for me. Yet while many others also voted it a 5, too, as of now, most who have already voted, have rated it a lot higher than I (78.8% have voted for spots 6 thru 10 so far, as I type this out). So 8 out of 10 voters don't agree with me on this. No matter, I don't really care either way. I mainly hope for high ratings for the Stones songs in these polls, but like you, I only vote once, and during the week I only keep an eye out for the few morainic vote spammers who try to vote more than once, and 98% of those spammers end up being banned when I get finished with them (but the really sad part of that, is one single person is responsible for 90% of all of the weekly spam voting - using different IP numbers when he spams, but since I know who he is, his votes never count. Poor fool just wastes his time, 6 days a week, must not have a real life, to do that so often.
Anyway, as far as a new Stones studio album goes, if they are putting a new one together - it's being done undercover, and knowing the Glimmers, I won't put that pass them. Let's hope that's true, but I don't get why nothing has been released yet, as even before Charlie passed away, they were talking back then of putting together a new studio LP "soon", then since he died, no news at all on this. But if something was coming out before Xmas, we would have heard something by now - you would think. So my guess (and it's only a guess), is no new Stones studio album until at least 2023.
