Rifle, Colorado sits at an elevation of 5,519 feet and is the most populous community in Garfield County (population: 10,437 at the 2020 census). It is located along Interstate 70 and the Colorado River on the Colorado Western Slope. It's top attractions include Rifle Falls State Park (which features a famous 50-to-80-foot triple waterfall), limestone caves, and hiking trails. Rifle Gap State Park offers a reservoir for boating, water skiing, sailing, and trout or walleye fishing. Then Rifle Mountain Park is renowned globally for over 250 bolted rock-climbing routes in the summer and natural ice caves for ice-climbing in the winter.
Rifle features a continental climate, characterized by hot summers, cold and frosty winters, low overall precipitation, and high amounts of annual sunshine.
