Red Feather Lakes is in Larimer County, Colorado.
The town's population was 426 at the 2020 census. It is a rustic
mountain village surrounded by the Roosevelt National Forest.
There are at least 12 named lakes in the community, including Parvin Lake, Dowdy Lake, West Lake, Snake Lake, Letitia Lake, Red Feather Lake, Lake Ramona, Hiawatha Lake, Apache Lake, Shagwa Lake, Lake Nokomis, and Lake Erie.
The town was named after Princess Red Feather,
who was a Creek and Cherokee from Oklahoma. The Native American activist, was an orchestral singer who traveled the country making music with her partner, Charles Wakefield Cadman, a composer.
