Pueblo is the county seat and the most populous city of Pueblo County, Colorado. The population was 111,876 in 2020 census, making it the ninth most populous city in Colorado. Pueblo is situated at the confluence of the Arkansas River and Fountain Creek, on the southern end of the Colorado Front Range. It is one of the largest steel-producing cities in the U. S. Pueblo has the least expensive residential real estate of all major cities in Colorado, and is the sixth most affordable place to live in America as measured by the 2014 Cost of Living Index. The city is also a hub of higher education, enrolling nearly 14,000 students between Colorado State University Pueblo and Pueblo Community College.

The Historic Arkansas Riverwalk is an urban development, with boat rides, public art and events. The project commemorates the river’s original location, before it was diverted in the wake of a 1921 flood. El Pueblo History Museum has a recreated 1840s trading post and artifacts tracing the city’s past. To the west, Lake Pueblo State Park is a popular fishing, boating and camping spot.

Pueblo is 115 miles (185 km) south of Denver. The town sits on the western edge of the Great Plains in a high desert area of terrain in southern Colorado and is also near the western edge of the Southwestern Tablelands ecology region.

Located in Colorado's "Banana Belt", it has a high desert climate and tends to get less snow than any of the other major cities in Colorado. It's also one of the hottest places in the state in the summer, yet on winter nights, it's one of the coldest spots on the Front Range. Officially, Pueblo has a Semi-arid climate. Summers are hot and dry, with 90°F (32°C) or greater highs are on average seen 72 days per year, with 100°F (38°C) or greater on 12 days. The hottest temperature ever recorded in Pueblo was a sizzling 109°F (42.8°C) on July 13, 2003, while the coldest temperature recorded was −31°F (−35.0°C) on February 1, 1951. Average seasonial snowfall here is just 28.3 inches (72 cm), largest snow in one storm was 16.8 inches (42.7 cm) on April 1-2, 1957.
