The City of Greeley is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Weld County, Colorado. The population was 108,795 at the 2020 census, making Greeley the 10th-most populous city in the state. It's located in the High Plains subregion of the Great Plains, in the northern part of Colorado.

Greeley is 49 miles (80 km) north-northeast of Denver, at an elevation of 4,665 feet (1,422 meters). It was founded as an agricultural colony in 1870. It's known today for some of its popular attractions, which include: Colorado Model Railroad Museum and Pawnee National Grasslands.

The town is named after the editor of  the New York Tribune (1841 -1966; known as the Herald Tribune 1924 -1966), Horace Greeley, who had visited Colorado in the 1859 during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush and had popularized the phrase "Go West, young man, go west!". The new town was then founded in 1869 by Nathan C. Meeker, an agricultural reporter for the Tribune.

The city is a college town, home to the University of Northern Colorado and Aims Community College. The city has two main roads, they are U.S. Route 85 and U.S. Route 34.

Greeley experiences a semi-arid climate. High temperatures are generally around 90–95°F (32°C) in the summer and 40-45°F (4°C) in the winter. Record high temperatures of 112°F (44.4°C) was recorded in July, and the record low temperatures of –25°F (–32°C) in January. The seasonal Chinook winds coming off the Rocky Mountains, often raise temperatures here to near 70°F (21°C) in January and February (the warmest January day was 74°F / 23°C, and 78°F / 26°C in February), and sometimes to near or above 90°F (32°C) in April. This is the case for all of the Colorado plains. Average snowfall in Greeley is 34.9 inches (88.4 cm) per snow season.
