Colorado/Utah border
(Note: This page may need reloading on some browsers for new views)
The Utah-Colorado border is a 279-mile longitudinal line running north-south along the meridian west of the Washington Meridian (West longitude). It forms the eastern edge of Utah and the western edge of Colorado, stretching from the Wyoming border in the north to the Four Corners in the south. In this border area you will find: The Four Corners: The southern terminus of the border meets the Arizona and New Mexico borders at the Four Corners, the only spot in the U.S. where four states intersect at a single point. Diverse Geography: The boundary dramatically shifts from red rock sandstone and desert canyons in the south (part of the Colorado Plateau) to high alpine peaks and meadows in the north. Major Highway Crossings: If you are traveling between the two states, the primary east-west artery crossing the border is Interstate 70 (near Loma, Colorado and Cisco, Utah). Another major crossing is US-491 in the far south (connecting Monticello, Utah to Dove Creek, Colorado). Protected Areas: The borderlands are home to remote and stunning protected lands, including Dinosaur National Monument to the north and Hovenweep National Monument to the south.
