Arvada, Colorado

 

As Colorado's 8th largest city, Arvada is just nine miles from our state's capital city, Denver. The City of Arvada is located in both Jefferson and Adams counties of Colorado. The U.S. Census Bureau has the city population at 124,402 residents as of 2020 (with 121,510 residing in Jefferson County and 2,892 residing in Adams County) ranking it as the seventh most populous municipality in Colorado. The town sits at an elevation of  5,453 feet (1,662 meters), with the city having a total area of 25,325 acres (102.485 km2), including 422 acres (1.709 km2) of water.

The first documented discovery of gold in the Rocky Mountain region, occurred right here on June 22, 1850, in Ralston Creek. 

Some of Avada's popular attractions include: Apex Center, Historic Olde Town Arvada, Cussler Museum, and Majestic View Park and Nature Center.

Arvada's climate classification is as being semi-arid. Like most of the state, it experiences significant sunshine, low humidity, and wide temperature variations. Summers are warm and dry (averaging temps are in the upper 80s°F in July), while winters are cold but generally mild with moderate snowfall. It is a relatively a dry region, receiving around 16 inches (406 mm) of total annual precipitation each year with rain mainly falls during spring and early summer. Arvada averages about 58 inches (147 cm) of snow annually, with the heaviest snowfalls typically occurring in March and April.
