I'm just watching that movie of Michael Jackson's last rehearsals while I wait for Bill Mahar to come on.
Jackson always seemed overrated by many, and then he was also the subject of derision for his pure pop qualities. A reaction to the derision was often an overestimation of his abilities. He would often be hailed as a musical genius.
I think the truth is somewhere in between, and frankly more to the side where his music will be forgotten. I don't think he was untalented by any means, but I also don't think his best music was much better than the other AM radio pop songs of the 70s and 80s that we consider to be the best of those eras.
What do you guys think?
