They are all under contract, that's a fact and all I know for sure. The band (mainly Jagger) doesn't allow info like that to leak out, either. Anybody who says they know is just guessing, other than Darryl Jones and the singers themselves, well they know of course, and from what I've been told, one of the things they sign in their contracts is that they are not to talk about their contracts to anybody.
But think about Darryl, he's been their main bassist since what, the '90s, and he's still there, even if by now he would have been made a member in any other band years ago. So they more than likely are paying him very well. I bet it's setup something like this... with them saying to him back in the '90s, Look, we're never gonna let you be a official member of this band, we aren't gonna let anybody new in that way ever again, but we will pay you to be up on stage with us, just as much (or nearly as much) as if you were an official member. If they were honest with him and upfront in this way to him, well that's why he still hangs around with them to this day. Won't you do that to play with and be paid a lot of money by the greatest rock n roll band? Hell, I would. Maybe not for anybody else, but for the Stones I'd do it!
