What's nuts is I like the IDEA of Trump. The problem is that he is such an asshole, and his views so opposed to mine. But I like how we have a president with no prior political experience, and who has the money power to tell his own party to shove it if he doesn't agree with something they stand by. The last president we had who was even remotely like this guy was John Kennedy, except that Kennedy's views were more aligned with mine. But the principle is the same thing: Kennedy didn't need money to get into office because of all the bread the family made bootlegging booze during prohibition. It gave him a certain independence. It also made him dangerous, which is why certain people wanted to take out him, his brother and MLK. Even though he is identified with the Republican Party, my favorite president still remains Lincoln. He said one time, "As president, I've never had a policy. I've never had a philosophy. I take in information from others, but in the end trust my judgment. I have just tried to do what makes the greatest amount of common sense each day in the Oval Office." Can you imagine any politician today running on that platform? Pick me for my judgment and common sense? And many people consider Lincoln the greatest Prez of all time. People used to elect political leaders based on their judgment and independence. Not on where they stood on the war on drugs or something. Despite his so-called independence, Trump uses horrible judgment. He has an opportunity to effect so much change, or so much damage. Sadly, he is creating damage.
