ROLLING STONES LYRICS

JUMPIN' JACK FLASH

Recorded during the Beggars Banquet sessions in 1968, but kept off the album and released as a single on May 24, 1968. The main guitar riff was thought up by Bill Wyman, but he wasn't credited.

In 1968 two promotional films (which the modern music videos evolved from), were shot for this song. The Stones performing in one of them wearing body paint and heavy makeup on their faces, and far-out costumes. Soon the rock band Alice Cooper copied this and the look became a rock trend and the start of Glitter Rock. It also led to the look that the band KISS would adopt.

Lead Vocals: Mick Jagger Lead Guitar, Acoustic Guitars, and Bass: Keith Richards Electric Guitars and Mellotron: Brian Jones  Drums: Charlie Watts Maracas: Jimmy Miller Organ: Bill Wyman  Background Vocals: Mick Jagger & Keith Richards

JUMPING JACK FLASH
(Jagger/Richards)

Watch it!

I was born in a cross-fire hurricane

And I howled at my ma in the driving rain,
But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas!
But it's all right.  I'm Jumpin' Jack Flash,
It's a Gas!  Gas!  Gas!

I was raised by a toothless, bearded hag,
I was schooled with a strap right across my back,
But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas!
But it's all right, I'm Jumpin' Jack Flash,
It's a Gas!  Gas!  Gas!

I was drowned, I was washed up and left for dead.
I fell down to my feet and I saw they bled.
I frowned at the crumbs of a crust of bread.
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I was crowned with a spike right thru my head.
But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas!
But it's all right, I'm Jumpin' Jack Flash,
It's a Gas!  Gas!  Gas!

Jumping Jack Flash, its a gas
Jumping Jack Flash, its a gas
Jumping Jack Flash, its a gas
Jumping Jack Flash, its a gas
