As we already know, the Stones do blues very well and Mick is on good form on B&L with his vocals and harp. Backing is slick and appropriate. In the end, however, it is a side step and a long term sign of creative decline that they don't have new material to put out after more than a decade. To have so many cuts by Little Walter is an interesting choice and the best of these is probably "Hate to See you Go". My own personal favorite choice from the album though is "Ride 'Em On Down" by Eddie Taylor which is better than the original and has the potential to become a Stones classic.

In a way, as mentioned before, B&L is a side step. As they didn't have any very interesting new material, they put out an album of Blues covers. I think this is the way it happened rather than a blues album being the thing they had really wanted to do for a long time. Of course it's good to see the band working so tightly together after more than 50 years, but this is to be expected given their almost continuous touring schedule. Overall, I give it a generous 7 from 10.

So will we ever get more original material from the Glimmers? I am doubtful that there is anything of much real quality left in the locker now.
