Lake George is a town in New York’s vast, protected Adirondack region of mountains and old-growth forest. The town sits on the lake of the same name. On the shore, the Fort William Henry Museum & Restoration is a restored British fort, built in 1755. Nearby, Million Dollar Beach has picnic areas and a boat launch. The Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway offers views of the lake and the Adirondack High Peaks. The population was 3,502 at the 2020 census, with the town's elevation at 320 feet (98 meters).

Lake George (the lake itself) is called the "Queen of American Lakes", a stunning 32-mile-long, crystal-clear body of water nestled in the southeastern foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. Famous for its 180+ islands and mountain backdrops, it offers world-class boating, historic steamboat cruises, and vibrant village attractions.

The weather here offers warm, sunny summers perfect for water activities. Highs average in the upper 70s to low 80s°F ( 26 to 28°C). The lake surface water reaches a pleasant mid 70s°F range. In the winter, it's cold and snow, with the region receiving from 40 to 60 inches (101.6 to 152.4 centimeters) of snowfall annually.
