Growing up in the age-shrouded sixties, I have always considered that the musical universe takes shape in the form of the trinity - the Beatles, The Stones, and Bob Dylan. The Who and especially Led Zepplin are second-stringers and have no hope of ever being in the same class with the Big Three. And in the world of second-stringers I'd place the Kinks over Zep and maybe over the 'Oo. My classifications work whether you like the artists named or not - in terms of historical significance, and influence on society, the Big Three will be remembered forever. The Who and Led Zepplin will not.
