Poll Post for the week starting Monday, March 18

Time to get our weekly poll post underway for our 5 weekly polls, and as usual we will start off with the Stones poll, where we enter poll week 1,025, and as always, we will answer 2 different Stones poll questions in one week for this poll. So for the first Stones poll, here’s the brand new question: "I can't get no girl reaction", or "I can't get no girlie action". Which lyric is being sung by Mick in (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction?

So yes, which lyric is it? We know (I think we all know anyway) that officially it's down as "I can't get no girl reaction", but many believe that was just the Stones record company's saying this to keep the song from getting banned on the radio. Mick had said in one early interview after the song was released, that it was "girl reaction", too, but he could have been under pressure to say that for the same reason his record company was forced to say it. It's been said he claimed otherwise later on that it really was "girlie action". If you listen to the song, it really does sound like both! Try doing this, if you’re listening for "girl reaction", you will hear that! But, if you listen for "girlie action" instead, you're gonna hear that, too! Really, you will hear it both ways depending on what you are listening for. So what do you think Mick is really singing?

Notice in the question, we aren't asking for what the official lyrics are, since we already know that. We want to find out what most are hearing. Clearly, "girlie action" makes more sense, since it's a term that's used by guys when wanting to score with a gal, while I've never heard anybody use the term "girl reaction" before this song was released. But that don't mean that MJ didn’t sing that, either. But as asked here before by myself, if he can’t get no girl reaction, does that mean he can’t get it up?

Anyway, I couldn’t get the entire question to fit into the poll’s admin if I included a link to the song too, so to hear the song before you vote, I’ll just place the link right here in the poll post: (I can’t get no) Satisfaction . The lyric line in question comes up around the 2:20 marker in the song if you just wish to hear that part of it only before you vote. Then to vote on what you hear being sung, you can make your choice by clicking here: Stones Weekly Poll, and when there, then click on Poll 1.

For the second Stones Poll this week, the question is: December's Children vs Beggars Banquet, which album do you like best?

vs

Well it’s mid to late March, so when’s a better a time than now to run the "December's Poll (and everybody's)", VS poll series again, featuring the 1965 LP release of December's Children. This is round #21 for this LP, and it holds the second poorest record for their 10 different ’60s album in these battles at 9-11-1, sitting in 15th place in the standings. This week it goes up against one of the best ’60s LPs for the band, with 1968’s Beggars Banquet LP, which is in 4th place in the standings with a 19-3 record.

As I have noted for the last 3 weeks now, the people running the Stones official site took down all of the links to the albums they had up and to which I used to link here to so you could see the song list before you vote without being swayed by what my site shows for each song - since I have the songs all rated. But since it’s clear now that they aren’t gonna put back up those pages at the Stones official site (a flat out stupid/moronic move to remove them), I guess from now on I will just link to Wiki for that info. Yet Wiki is full of misinformation in what they got up there, and their bit on BB is flat out awful, still stating among other things, old and proven lies from years ago, the falsehood that Brian played no guitar at all on BB (a total lie), but then stating later on the same page that he did! They can’t even get their story straight! Really, I need to sign up to edit all of the Stones pages there so they aren’t in the mess that they are in. But for now that site will have to do, so for December's Children, to see the song list on the LP, click here: DC, and for Beggars Banquet, click here: BB.

To vote in this week’s second Stones poll, just click on: Stones Weekly Poll and click on Poll 2.

Looking back at our first Stones poll last week, we answered this question: Rate the official live video for “Sweet Virginia”

The last week for a while for the Stones video polls. This piece that we voted on last week is well loved indeed, as 92.4% of all the votes went to ratings 8 thru 10, with “10.0” taking the top pick with 31.3% of the vote! To see the full, final results from this poll, please click here: Stones Weekly Poll 1 - week 1,024. The final results to this poll can also be found here: Stones Fans Top Pick List, Page 2, where you can also check out how all of the other videos that we have voted on in the past, have ended up, too.

The second Stones poll last week asked this question: It's Only a Rock 'n Roll vs 12x5, which album do you like best?

vs

“Close” was the word in voting for this one! It's Only a Rock 'n Roll won this matchup by just a 10 vote margin. To view the actual vote count, just click on this link: Stones Weekly Poll 2- week 1,024. Or, you can see all of the final results and see the updated, current album standings at the Stones VS Page 1.

Now let’s talk about the Classic Rock Poll, where we enter poll week 665, and in this one we also vote on 2 different poll questions in one week. For the first Rock poll, we have a brand new 4 part series that starts up this week and askes this: Of the Rockers who were in at least 2 big bands, who performed the best for those bands? (Part 1 of 4)

We have 85 musicians listed for this 4 part series and I bet I'm still missing a few as it is. But still, I think I got most of them. So we will vote on these 85 musicians in Parts 1 thru 3 and then the top picks from each week will be voted on again in the final part.

Now we are only looking at bands that made it big here for an artist’s work to be counted with them, so no minor bands are considered, nor does solo work count, either. However, if an artist played in a solo singer's band, whereas the singer won’t get listed for that band, the musician might, depending on how big the backing band was.

To see the 29 poll choices in Part 1, and then vote, just click here: Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

For our second Rock poll this week, we have the Rock VS poll, which asks this question: Lynyrd Skynyrd vs the Allman Brothers Band, which was the better southern Rock band?

Normally our Rock VS poll matches up rock songs, but this week it's looking at bands instead. Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers Band are pretty much considered the 2 best ever southern rock bands by most fans (and they were 2 of the first such bands, too), even if you yourself may not agree. I don’t really have to talk about these 2 bands, here as you all know who they are and were. Sad that today most of the main members of these 2 bands are now all dead and gone and only their music lives on. But which of these 2 were the better Southern Rock band?

To cast your vote in this week’s second Rock poll, just click here: Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

Looking back at last week’s 2 Rock polls, the first question asked: What is the best Rock song about people who are loners

Cool question that only got to run for a week, and the top 2 songs chosen pretty much ran away with this, with “I Am a Rock” by Simon and Garfunkel taking first with 7.2% of the vote, and “The Loner” by Neil Young placing with 6.9%.

To see the full results from this poll question, just click here: Classic Rock Poll 1, week 664. Or you can also check out the top 10 results at this page Top Ten Lists, Page, 14, all the way at the bottom of the page.

Looking back at last week’s VS Rock poll, the question asked: “Mr Tambourine Man” by the Byrds vs “Green Tambourine” by The Lemon Pipers. Which song about a tambourine player do you like better?

vs

This one wasn’t close at all. To see the poll’s final results and which song won in a landslide, just click here: Classic Rock Poll 1, week 664. Or to see the results on the list page only, please go here: VS Page 3, List Page, 15.

We close out the poll post as usual with the Beatles poll, where week 416 is upon us, and its question is: What's your favorite one line lyric from a Beatles song? (Part 3 of 4)

Part 3, or week 3 if you prefer, of asking this very popular question. I have another 30 song lyrics for you to choose from in this part, and like the last 2 weeks, it still won’t be easy to pick put just one. To see this week’s choices and vote, please go here: Beatles Weekly Poll.

In last week’s Beatle poll the questions wasWhat's your favorite one line lyric from a Beatles song? (Part 2 of 4)

Thanks to ties, we got 10 lyrics to include in the Top 8 spots for Part 2. Whereas Paul did pretty good in Part 1, John cleaned up last week, while Paul this time only got one of the 10 lyrics lines and George getting 2 of the 3 he had listed last week picked.

To view the full result from last week’s Beatles poll, including the top 8 spots, just click here: Beatles Weekly Poll – week 415.

So this week you will now see a much shorter close to this poll post than what I had to say last week. Nothing wild died in my front yard last week, the grandson played in the state’s (and in his last) high school all-star basketball game Friday nite, in front of a sellout crowd of several thousand people (at Adams State U) and he and his team played great and won the game (damn I’m proud of him!), and yes, it’s still daylight saving (nothing) time and all of our inner time clocks are still messed up thanks to it. But anyway, spring starts this week, but we’re still getting snowed on here, but then again, that’s normal for Colorado in the spring. I hope you all have a great week ahead and I thank all of you for voting in our polls last week and please vote again in this week’s polls, too!
