19th Nervous Breakdown/ER/LIB/Son songs/Acid Riffs

Well my friends, for the second week in a row I’m very late in getting the new week’s poll post going, but it was a very busy Sunday for me! As usual, I’ll start off this post talking about the Stones poll, as we enter week 1,017 of polling, and where I always ask 2 different poll questions each week. For the first poll, here’s the new question: Rate the Stones TV performance for “19th Nervous Breakdown”

First, this is not the well-known Stones appearance that they made on U.S. TV for The Ed Sullivan Show for “19th Nervous Breakdown”, but the not as well known or viewed appearance that the Boys made on the Australian TV show Bandstand while in Sydney, on February 17, 1966. If you haven’t seen it before, well I myself like this appearance much better than the Sullivan show’s take of it, and as usual, there will be a link to the video clip from the show at the voting page to view before you cast your vote.

To watch the video and then cast your vote in this week’s first Stones poll, just click on: Stones Weekly Poll and when there, then click on Poll 1.

For the second Stones Poll this week we ask this: Emotional Rescue vs Let it Bleed, which album do you like best?

vs

It’s The Very Emotional Polls, featuring the band’s Emotional Rescue LP (from 1980) that gets to return to the battle field of the Stones album VS series this week. ER has a losing record of 3-17 in its past matches and sits way down in the standings in 20th place. This week it takes on the 1969 release of Let it Bleed, which has a big time winning record of 19-1 and is in second place in those same album standings.

To check out the song list for each album, for Emotional Rescue, click here: ER, and for Let it Bleed, click here: LIB.

To vote in this week’s second Stones poll, just click on: Stones Weekly Poll and click on Poll 2.

Looking back at our first Stones poll last week, we answered this question: Rate the Stones video for “Undercover Of The Night” (B Version)

I just don’t get it, as to why the Stones videos don’t do so great when I ask these questions? That is, when you compare the results from when I ask the same questions about the Beatles videos, they most often score a 10! It was looking early on - in fact up to Thursday, that this one would see a 10 rating for its top pick. But then on Friday there was at a 3 ways tie for first between 8, 9, and 10, and then in the last day of voting, 8 came out on top! Oh well!

To see the full final results from this poll, please click here: Stones Weekly Poll 1 - week 1,016. The final results to this poll can also be found here: Stones Fans Top Pick List, Page 2, where you can also check out how all of the other film clips that we have voted on in the past, have ended up, too.

The second Stones poll last week asked this question: Tattoo Tou vs Aftermath, which album do you like best?

vs or

This one was very close all week long, with Aftermath winning out in the end. To see just how close this poll was, click on this link: Stones Weekly Poll 2- week 1,016. Or, you can see all of the final results and see the updated, current album standings at the Stones VS Page 1.

Over at the Classic Rock Poll this week, we enter poll week 657, and in this one we also vote on 2 different poll questions in one week. For the first Rock poll the question asks this brand new question: What is the best song with “son” in the title?

For the last 3 weeks we picked the best songs with “sun” in the title. So this week we will look for the best song with the other “son” in its title. Now there are nowhere as many song titles out there with this “son” in the title as there is with the other “sun” in song titles. There are actually many songs about sons out there, but most of them just don’t have “son” in their titles. So instead of a 3 part deal for this “son” poll, we can get an answer in just one week’s time in this single go-round.

To make your pick and vote, just click here: Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

For our second Rock poll this week, we have the Rock VS poll, which asks this somewhat long question: John Lennon's acid guitar riff on “Revolution” vs Keith Richard's acid guitar riff on “Sympathy For the Devil”, which acid guitar riff sounds better?

VS

The question above was so long that I had to remove the word “riff” a couple of times to get it to fit in the poll’s program, but I guess the word “acid” is the most important word to look at for this question anyway. I myself just love the sound of a great acid guitar! So many others do too, to the point that a brand new subgenre of Rock music came from such a riff, that being Heavy Metal, even if a heavy metal guitar overall isn’t like the original acid guitar riffs that started it all.

Both John Lennon and Keith Richards were 2 of the earliest acid guitar players, and both of them were great at playing such riffs. I guess we really should vote one day on the overall best acid guitar riff ever played in rock music, period, but IMO, these 2 that we are voting on this week – are them, bar now!

For me, I’m really gonna have a hard time voting on this one, since I really love both of these acid riffs equally, even if they aren’t the same sounding riffs at all. For Lennon’s lead acid guitar on “Revolution”, he plays the riff throughout most of the song, and its one hell of a dirty riff indeed that makes the song sound great! With Richards’s great riff on SFTD, it’s a lot cleaner a riff, the cleanest acid riff ever played, and unlike Lennon’s dirty and constant riff in his song, with Richards’ riff, it only shows up here and there in the song, making you longing to hearing more of it until it finally comes around again in the song!

Now as usual, there will be links to the songs at the voting page so you can hear the riffs before you vote…. but remember, don’t rate videos you see, nor are we voting on the songs this time, either! The 2 acid riffs are the only sounds that counts in this poll, and they are the only thing that we are voting on this week in this poll! So no, and again, we are not voting on the songs this week like we usually do with this type of question.

Which one out of these 2 great acid riffs do you like better? To vote in this week’s second Rock poll, just click here: Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

Looking back at last week’s 2 Rock polls, the first question asked: What is the best song with “sun” in the title? (Part 3 of 3)

The Beatles ended up taking both first and second place last week with this question. “Here Comes the Sun” took first by a good margin over “Good Day, Sunshine”, while Donovan’s “Sunshine Superman” came in third. To see the full results from this poll question, just click here: Classic Rock Poll 1, week 656. Or to see the Top 10 finish only, you can do that at: Top Ten Lists, Page, 14.

Looking back at last week’s VS Rock poll, the question was: The Beatles' Yellow Submarine vs The Stones' Dirty Work, which of these 2 disliked LPs, is better?

VS

Well, I had a feeling what the final result would be, and sure enough, good old Dirty Work (or should I day, “bad old DW”), lost big yet again!

To see this poll’s final results, just click here: Classic Rock Poll 1, week 656. Or to see the results on the list page only, please go here: VS Page 3, List Page, 15.

Now it’s time to talk about the Beatles poll, which returns this week after a 2 week absence, thanks to a spammer who doesn’t care what you and I think, but only what he thinks. But since he’s mainly stopped spamming in the last 2 weeks, I’ll try to get this poll back up and running at this time. If he hits again, well my host is looking out for him, and as they put it, he can’t be caught if he doesn’t spam, but if he does, they might be able to catch him. If they can catch him in the act, at the least he will be barred from ever being able to see this domain again, as they should be able to see what his true IP number is now that they are looking out for him, and he will be no longer able to view keno.org at the least, if that’s the case.

Anyway, this week’s Beatle poll question is: Rate the Beatles video for “Paperback Writer”

Now here’s an old Beatle video that you never see too much these days. Directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg on May 20, 1966 at Chiswick House; an 18th century house and gardens in west London. This film clip was released a month after it was made. It was noted that John Lennon was in a hurry and wanted the shot done as soon as possible, as he and his wife Cynthia were attending a party in London with Mick Jagger and Chrissie Shrimpton, who were waiting on them to arrive.

Poor Ringo looks lost in this clip, as if he has nothing to do. I guess they didn’t have his drum kit there when they filmed? Not sure why, but this is the second video like this where he has no drums to play!

To take part in the voting for this week’s Beatle poll, please go here: Beatles Weekly Poll.

So that does it for this week’s poll post. Damn am I exhausted tonight! I had a very long Sunday, and it worked out and felt more like a Saturday afternoon in the things I was doing. But by the time the grandson and I got back home tonight, it was late, and it was then that I realized – its Sunday nite and I got a poll post to write! This was right at 11 pm a full hour after the polls started up. So that’s why this post is so very late tonight!

As usual, I thank you all for voting in our polls each week!
