Speakers are most important.

Then the amp.

CD player ... pretty much anything is fine.

I have a bunch of speakers. Polk Audio floor standing are my main ones, but I also have two pairs of Boston Acoustics and a set of Pioneers with 15" woofers.

My CD player is a 5 disc changer from Sony I bought in 2000.

Two turntables -- Acoustic Research from the 60's [from my dad] and one I bought at a pawn shop years ago. I Don't even know the brand! But it works great. Dpn't go cheap on the stylus -- it really matters. And fully manual is the only way to go.

Two amps. Harman Kardon 120 watt and Panasonic 100 watt. The HK really rocks.
