He was one of the first artists that introduced me to country music, thanks to his TV show. NYC didn't have any country radio stations until the early '70s or so, and yes, there were a few country songs that made the pop charts in the '60s and that was the only other exposure I had to the genre. But then at the end of the '60s, on came this funny TV show called Hee Haw and it played a lot of C&W, and I was hooked on that music without even realizing it - that, and I just loved the sound of the southern accent spoken on the song by the cast members for that matter, too, since there weren't any southerns to ever be exposed to where I grew up. Clark was of course the show's host. RIP Roy Clark.
