Everybody had their turn being the star of an episode, but now that you've mentioned it, Trampas may have had a few MORE of those 'starring' roles than the others. After all, the producers know what they're doing, they go with what's most successful ---- Trampas was funny, charismatic, mature when he had to be, hero, clown, philanderer, among the fastest guns, just a very likable character. The viewers loved him, and ratings are everything. This sort of thing has happened on other shows where a supporting actor suddenly becomes quite popular and therefore more focus is placed on him/her in the writing, most notably Fonzie on 'Happy Days', Dr. Smith on 'Lost in Space', and Urkle on 'Family Matters'.
