RE: Are we living in a post-Rock 'N' Roll

I think the current lack of popular interest in rock n' roll is primarily a cyclical trend. Back in 1994 there was a real interest amongst youth in bands like the Stones. There's always a diversity in age at a Stones concert in the UK but 1994 was a much younger crowd due to interest in real music and grunge rock etc.

These days I hear comments like how do you listen to that old sounding music. I have to admit that the production quality of modern music is so much superior to classic rock n' roll CDs even though I don't prefer it. That audiophile quality lends itself to emphasising the voice itself etc. and I think that's why a lot of current artists are solo singer stars rather than bands.

The kids of the youngsters who prefer this current music will rebel again in time, and I'm sure there's no shortage of human creativity. Some of us are that old generation harking to the past.
