But Elvis did play a few different instruments (while he played guitar, he was best at playing the piano), but he just never really did play a lot while he performed, and when he did in the latter days of his life, it was always him on guitar only. But when he was in his prime in the '50s and up till about '62 or so, that was how singers were showed on TV - just singing and not playing any instruments. It was the British invasion that changed all of that.
