I was casing mail that morning, preparing my route. The news on the radio said a plane crashed into 1 World Trade Center. At first we thought it was an accident, a very sad, tragic, horrible accident. I was saying silent prayers as I was working. Deep sorrow permeated my 'insides'.

Then around 15 minutes later the deejay said another plane just hit the second tower. I swear I thought he was joking. I thought he was just trying to share a little humor as the news of the (first) crash was very somber and disturbing.

But t wasn't a joke. I knew right there we were being attacked. Then the news of the Pentagon building being hit, and it really became scary. What next?
