RE: RE: RE: RE: hot enough for ya...nsc

I almost lost my right thumb to a brown recluse spider bite back in 1999. Anybody who was reading the board back then might recall when that happened to me. One of the most painful things that I ever had to endure - and boy did my thumb look awful for about a week or 2!

Heat wise, it was 90F today here and I can't bear it, I rather take the cold of winter anyday over this damn hot crap! At least it does cool off here every night, it's down to 62F right now and should be in the mid 50s before dawn (but that's still almost 10 degrees too warm for overnight temps for this area). It's suppose to be hot again tomorrow, and not a soul who lives here has air conditioning in their homes, and I mean nobody! We just bear it on the rare days when it gets this hot - or we hang out inside the post office - since it's one of the few buildings in town with air conditioning. On the Denver news tonight (where it was 98 to 100 degrees over there), they were talking things to get people to feel cooler, so the anchorman says, "we are now only 12 weeks away from our average first measurable snowfall of the fall, and just 5 weeks from the date of the earliest snowfall ever for snow to fall". That's nice to know, but where it used to snow every 3 Septembers on average many years ago here, thanks to global warming it now only happens once every 4 Septembers, and last winter we saw our lowest snow totals ever on record and destroyed the all time record low by several inches.

But for me, just thinking of snow doesn't make me feel any cooler. Today I just spend extra time out in the garden pouring the water hose on myself while wearing as few clothes as possible for the entire day. Damn did the veggie plants get a lot of water today!
