My humble opinion of course, but STEEL WHEELS is a high quality, multi-genre album. Quality from beginning to end. 💃
I've always loved it. It's underrated and it really shouldn't be.
It's rocks ~ Sad Sad Sad, etc. // its got Country ~ Blinded By Love // its got Jazz ~ Terrifying // Blues (with a tasty modern pizzazz) ~ Break the Spell // L❤️ve ~ Slipping Away, AHYS // Chuck Berryish ~ Hold On To Your Hat 🎩 // it's even got New Age 🙀, NEW AGE! ~ Continental Drift. //// let me add that Hearts For Sale is a hidden GEM and a ½!!!
All high quality songs.
My only complaints, as I've stated here before, is 'Terrifying' needs more Ronnie in the ending. Too underdone!
And 'Mixed Emotions' had better takes, with more guitar. I had a beautiful studio bootleg of it. It was just like the official release but with more guitar. Was far better. I'm guessing the Stones chose to keep ME simple so it can have a more commercial appeal as the lead single. The strategy worked as it was a top-5 hit!

I dig this album more than VL, & more than B2B.
When VL was released, Keith said SW was good but VL is ten-times better. I would debate that.
