RE: Favorite NON-STONES album cover(s). (nsc)

I always wanted to run this question in the Rock poll, but it's one of the few questions that I never could, since there would just be way too many choices to place on the list. To get such a poll to work, the domain would need a poll system where everybody could write in their choices, but our polls here don't have that option to do that.

My pick would have to be the Beatles Sgt Pepper LP cover. I can't think of any other LP put out by anybody that had a cover that had everybody and their dog talking about it and totally looking it over when it first came out, so they could pick out just who was who on the cover. In 1967, everybody under 30 was doing just that (and there were more kids around back then than in any other modern day time period ever before - at least in the U.S. anyway). So I'll pick it for that reason alone, as no other cover was like that one where everybody was interested in the same cover of an LP! It also seemed that all rock album covers that came out in the next few years after it, were all special, as that cover did start something (example: the Stones TSMR cover never would have happened without AR's cover - period), and I can't think of any other album cover that ever did that.

The Beatles Abbey Road cover was another great one, simple, but was one of those that wasn't looked at as being so special until after the "Paul is dead" rumor came about - and some of the clues were on that cover. I read something somewhere a long time ago that the AR street corner and crosswalk has had its picture taken by more people who also want to be in the picture crossing the crosswalk, than any other such place anywhere on earth. Plus everybody has seen the cam site today, it's one of the most visited cam sites on the web - directly because of the Beatles album cover. What you haven't seen it?, well here it is, live: Abbey Road cam. Now you have!

The Alice Cooper band's cover for School's Out was also another all time winner, as it opened up just like an old time school desk (you had to pull the cover up, just like how you opened an old time desk), and then once opened, inside it had the record sitting in there looking just like it was inside a school desk, but it had the girl's panties wrapped around the vinyl record, too, until the panties were banned a few months later and forced to be removed from the package because they were being declared a "fire hazard" (perhaps the all time most ridiculous reason to ban something related to rock music!) by way too many local fire departments and not allowed to be sold in stores for that insane reason. But in that case for that album, it wasn't just the font cover, but the inside of the album package, too. But still worth mentioning here, since no other rock album package was any better than that one, period.
