I like neo-bluegrass and traditional bluegrass, I just don't listen to them much because there's too much else to try out and not enough time. One of those other things that I'll admit to listening to lately is Lana del Rey, which I admit I didn't think I would like, but damn! I do. The only reason I gave her a chance is that I saw in the news she was getting sued by Radiohead over her new song "Get Free" sounding too much like their song "Creep" and so I gave them both a listen. And I thought "Get Free" was soooooo much better than Creep that it's not even funny. And I love Radiohead to death. But that led to my trying out a whole bunch of other stuff of hers, and I love it. One of her albums was produced by Dan Auerbach, and so since I like the Black Keys a lot I thought that was a plus. Bottom line. Lana del Rey is fucking brilliant. She's so dynamic, passionate, sensual and expressive. And she's legitimate and respected by critics. She writes her own stuff and doesn't rely on tricks. And she's had a lot of unfair blowback in her career and it isn't fair.
My favorite song of hers is a majestic psychedelic ice-blues masterpiece. Well, maybe it is not a masterpiece, but it's fucking cool, (and it is much better than Dead Skeletons, for those who weren't "inclined" for that stuff lol):
