Sad, I would had forgotten today was the day of his passing if you hadn't noted it here. I, like most fans of his, can remember exactly what I was doing on the night he was taken from us. I can only say that about one or two major events and maybe three or four other people who weren't related to me (like JFK's killing, or 9-11). I feel like he was a family member in a way.
Lennon was a great man indeed. 37 years ago today, and yes, it does seem all a long time ago now to me, as it was. At the time things were so different, I was still on the young side, 2 of my 3 kids were still small while my son wasn't even born yet. My wife was still alive, full of energy, and healthy, as were both of my parents. Me and mine was still very poor, I was working 3 jobs to make ends meet. Then think of the way life was for all of us back then. No internet, nobody had home computers, no cell phones, most people still didn't have microwave ovens in their homes yet, etc, etc. I think of all the things in life that John missed out on, all thanks to one sick madman.
I will always miss and love John Lennon, to the day I die.
