The Christian message is that salvation is available for anyone who chooses it, regardless of what kind of life they have or seem to have been given. There are no classes among humans. Yes, some are born disabled, deformed, some babies are born with cancer. Some people live in poverty their whole life. These are the things that atheists point to saying that a loving God could never stand by and allow these things. Atheists will often say that "God" either doesn't care, or is impotent (as in he'c can't help us) or maybe he just doesn't exist. These are good points. But I still believe in a God and in an afterlife.
Without the belief that we survive our own bodily death, I have a hard time seeing this life, for all its pleasure and pain, having any point at all.
