The research on mutations in sperm causing various birth defects in children of older men is mixed. The bottom line is they might say, for example, that the chance of birth defects double for children of older men. But that just means that if for a normal guy the chance is 1 in a 100 for an older guy the chance might be 2 in a hundred...still very low. As for parents dying too soon that could be a problem. On the other hand, biologically speaking kids really need parents around until they are about 18. After that they can manage. And a serious point to consider is that life is the greatest gift of all. So Mick and all the older fathers give unexpexted life to people who otherwise would never have existed at all.
