Jaded Faded, I've heard that San Diego has the biggest naval base in the US, but I'm just not sure on that. I know it's one of the biggest navel bases if not the biggest. So you went to the Midway museum and it was very interesting. JF, that's on my bucket list, now.
Pluto, myself and now you all realize the importance of Military history and to look at those 600 ft. Ticonderoga cruise ships with their arsenal of weapons that you can hardly see, cruise Tomahawk missiles (aprox. 100) anti aircraft missiles that quickly pop-up when required, their 2--5inch guns and tucked away anti-aircraft "gatlin type" machine guns that surround the ship. Wow, what a diverse fleet of warships the US dose have including 10/11 Nuclear Enterprise Air Craft Carriers. When one get's built they start on another and never stop constructing these massive, 1,000 ft. Carriers that carry up to 80-100 F-15s, F-16s, and the awesome F-18 hornets. They also have at least 10 -- F-22 Raptors and our newest F-35s that can take off vertically and each branch has their own version of the new F-35s, the most incredible fighter we have. I would love to go to San Diego just to see the Midway museum and the naval base there.
Between the US/Canada & Britain, we have every sea covered as well as every hotspot in the world. Worth every penny we spend on building our military might so our freedom is never compromised. Freedom comes at a high cost.
