I disagree about the song. It was not just a throwaway, meant for Ringo. It was part of the business then, and I think they (Lennon/McCartney) cared about it and wanted it--and the many other songs they wrote for other people--to be big hits, and thus they actually tried when they were composing them. To that end, I think they deemed this particular one above average in quality, precisely because of the fact that they believed the Stones to be worthy arrangers, capable of elevating it to a very high mark indeed, which the Stones (Brian) did. Personally, I think the Beatles would have loved to be covered even more than they were and by the way, Ringo had a lot of tunes back then and the Beatles were very conscious about balance and so many others things...so in this case and in others I don't believe he just got the "leftovers." Finally, all I can say is "whatever" to "apologies if my little attempt at some levity wasn't seen that way, maybe a lol should have been stuck on the end."
