Yes, that's one way to do it, and the way Philip had it done, although today you can buy frames that are made just for record framing.

I visited his apartment several times (well, apartments, since he went thru a divorce and loss his first place to his first wife, so he lived in 2 different NYC apartments until his new wife decided she didn't want to live in NYC any longer and they moved to near Martha's Vineyard years ago). I saw most, but not all of his collection, it was simply way too large to see and go over all of it at once in the bank vault. But I pretty much have seen all of the stuff he kept at his place, and yes he has given me a thing or 2 in the past as gifts. BTW, what he had was the largest 2 personal collections, not the largest collection own by say - a corporation, including the one that brought most of his Beatles collection about 10 years ago. Today our other friend (who doesn't ever want me to reveal who he is here again, since he's a private guy who doesn't want to be contacted by anybody these days), who in the Stones circle is well known, including by fans, anyway, I'm told that he now holds the largest private Stones collection today, including some of the rarest stuff still around. The Stones, who know him well, still go to him even today when they need something from their past that nobody else has, as do book authors and film producers. You basically had to been close to the Stones to get to such a place with them, and not make a big deal about it to anybody. He has told me that today some of his casual friends don't even know of his connections to the Stones.
