Why is 2Pac in the Rock HOF and BOSTON isn't?

Please fact check me on this - I sure hope I am wrong.

We see lots of people being enshrined in the Rock Hall Of Fame, many are great, but many of them are NOT rock musicians. 2Pac Shakur, Buffy Saint Marie, and many others are awesome but they are just not rock n'roll artists.

Boston, on the other hand, is true rock n roll. Their first album was utterly monstrous with almost every track a major chart hit. Their sound is pure rock n roll.

I just don't get this hall of fame thing.

We don't put John McEnroe in the Hockey Hall Of Fame, so why do we put 2Pac in the Rock Hall? And if we have to put them there, why are we stepping over classic bands of the rock genre in order to do it?
