I love Sgt Peppers and I suspect all Beatles fans do, Regardless of how you rank it against their other works, you'll probably view it as I do: one of the greatest and most important albums of all time.
With that said, what will this big set offer? Frankly, I don't need to hear slightly different arrangements, stuio banter, or out takes. And so I see these new box sets as first and foremost kind of gimicky. What I do like is never-before-heard songs that are actually great (as opposed to being left off the album for a good reason) For example, Exile On Main street re-release brought us the gorgeous Following The River and some other good works.
If Sgt Pepper's has this in its new box set than I would consider it.
It seems nowadays that almost any great album from history can be stretched into a box set, with 3,4, or more CDs and a 100 page booklet. I just question of how often these things are truly worth it.
