MINI REVIEW

The first of the group's albums to include Neil Young and what a dandy it is! "Teach Your Children" has to go down as the best vocal harmony sang by any rock group ever. Add to that a great steel guitar played by guest Jerry Garcia and you have one sweet ballad. The other pure classic ballad on here (both written by Graham Nash) is "Our House", doesn't everybody wish to live such a life as what is described in this song?

The song "Woodstock" comes to life in part thanks to Young's lead guitar, which wails away all over the tune, this is one excellent cover! Being a fellow long hair I can identify with David Crosby's "Almost Cut My Hair", a simple but to the point song about prejudices in society towards longhairs. Stephen Stills best song on this album is the opener "Carry On ", which also has some nice vocal harmonies. In fact, next to the Beatles, no other rock group could harmonize better than CSN&Y.
